BEING HONEST

IDEAS BECOME ACTION

DOESN’T JUST TALK ABOUT FAIR AND SOCIAL - ME IS VERIFIED FAIR AND SOCIAL!

Unlike many of our competitors who create their own ‘Fair Trade’ logos and talk about social responsibility while they are just informing consumers with marketing slogans, at ME, we believe that our customers deserve respect and transparency.

We are an open book; our farm is open to interested people to come and check the authenticity of our affirmations and products. Our farm is managed according to rigorous environmental, social and economic criteria designed to conserve wildlife; safeguard soils and waterways; protect workers, their families and local communities; and increase livelihoods in order to achieve true, long-term sustainability.

Plus, we are proud to be certified by internationally approved organizations, such as Rainforest Alliance, which continuously monitor onsite to ensure that strict basic principles of social behavior, engagement, compensation, treatment of the environment and environmental compatibility are adhered to.

The Rainforest Alliance is a non-governmental organization working to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices and consumer behavior. Products bearing the seal originate on or contain ingredients sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms or forests.

Having earned this seal implies that we are taking steps to :

• Increase tree cover

• Conserve soil quality and prevent erosion

• Protect wildlife

• Ensure the well-being of workers and their families by facilitating access to education and healthcare

Your choice to use ME products benefits the future of our people working on the farm, their families within the Msambweni community, the soil, trees and its wildlife.

DOING GOOD

HELPS THE UNPRIVILEDGED

OUR MISSION IS TO BRING A FEW MOMENTS OF HAPPINESS TO THOSE WHO NEED IT THE MOST.

In Kenya, the situation of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) is an issue of concern. Currently it is estimated that there are over 3 million orphans in the country, 47% as a result of HIV & AIDS and many more remain vulnerable due to several other factors. The statistics surrounding the rising population and the immense suffering of these children are overwhelming. Over 25% of the population live on less than $1 per day and 12-15% of households in Kenya are headed by an orphan sibling. At ME we do our best to help them and bring them a little bit of heaven on earth.

Furthermore, since 2014, ME has employed over 400 people in a region with over 80% unemployment. Even if the company was financed with neither donations nor government subsidies, we decided to contribute to local development. We create income for the local population through entrepreneurship.

CARING FOR NATURE

REFORESTATION WITH MORINGA IN KENYA

HAS CREATED A THRIVING MORINGA PARADISE ON ABANDONED FARMLAND.

Forests have now shrunk to 1.7% of the total land area of Kenya. ME farm is helping to drive reforestation and our 560,000 Moringa trees are actively contributing to this effort. This is being accomplished through entrepreneurial self-initiative with no government subsidies. The farm was built on abandoned farmland where there were few remaining trees. All previously existing trees were retained. Endangered birds and rare animal species, such as Colobus monkeys and other monkey species have returned, and are cared for by us.

We have planted 2,000 papaya trees and distribute the fruits among our employees free of charge. We planted mango trees and other indigenous trees to feed our monkeys and birds. In addition, we have 20 beehives which are cared for by our own beekeepers. We leave the honey to the bees, and we estimate to have over 1 million healthy bees today. For our compost, we get elephant dung from wildlife parks. Everything is 100% organic.

SPREADING MORINGA

SHARES  THE POWER OF THE "TREE OF LIFE"

WE INSTRUCT PEOPLE IN MORINGA PLANTING, GROWING AND HARVESTING..

ME promotes the spread of Moringa by giving lectures in schools and institutions. And because we believe that such a great superfood shall be accessible to all, our Moringa tree nursery offers seedlings to the local population free of charge and our specialists actively help with planting and maintenance. So far we have distributed over 50,000 seedlings and have developed a plan for 2016 to 2020 to spread these health-fostering trees even further.

We intend to enable 20,000 households in our region to have access to Moringa. To accomplish this goal, we will build our own training centre which will enable us to pass on more know-how regarding Moringa to local community. We are also engaged in complimentary activities to help build Moringa farms in Cameroon.

Doing so ME gives people the opportunity to find their balance and achieve their goals thanks to miraculous Moringa. Because everybody deserves to get the best out of their body, mind and soul.
